26 December 2012 Wednesday
I believe that this will be my last blog post for the year 2012 before moving on to 2013 in a few days time. Advance 2013 Happy New Year to all my WordPresskistan and Flickristan readers.
The National Library Board (NLB) is seeking feedbacks from the general public about the interior design for the new Library@Orchard that will be opened at Orchard Gateway Shopping Centre in the first quarter of 2014.
There are four proof of concept designs by NLB and Singapore Polytechnic (SP), that are being showcased at the National Library Building as stated below.
1) Trend Gallery
The world is headed towards design being a key driver of change with a wide ranging impact on how we live, work, do business and play.
The Trend Gallery provides for multimedia sensorial experiences and hands on explorations of topical themes, which may range from fashion to the design of enterprises and more. The themes will be selected and rotated at predetermined intervals.
2) Memory Bank
The Memory Bank is a showcase of stories and achievements from the past and a repository for present and future narratives.
Through the telling of stories, the Memory bank aims to offer inspiration and lessons to the aspiring designer or entrepreneur as well as anyone interested in good stories.
3) The Book Tree
The Book Tree is a series of shelves accommodating physical and digital content.
It acts as a repository for user recommended books and other interactions
4) The Cocoon
The Cocoon is the reader’s hideaway.
It shuts out the rest of the world, allowing the reader to escape into the world offered by his book or other media of choice.
It is a portal that catapults the reader from the dimension of reality into his imagination.
There is a feedback counter at the exhibiton area and an online form for the general public to write their suggestions into the feedback form.
